Mektub sent by Kapudan Hasan Paşa to the Dodge of Venice regarding the friendship between Venice and the Porte and thedispute between the Venetian admiral of Crete and the Ottoman sancakbey of Andize. The first half of the text mentions that the Dodge has been in friendhip with the Porte and when Hasan Paşa became the admiral he sent the paia letter and congratulated him. On several occasions the dodge complained about the corsairs and the paşa has been trying to get rid of these corsairs for the sake of friendship. Moreover, according to ahdname and conditions of peace, ships from the Porte and Venice are supposed to be in peace when they come accross each other on the sea. However, there was a battle between Venetian ship led by the Venetian admiral of Crete and Ottoman ships in the port of Andize as reported by Perviz Bey. The Dodge is asked to ensure that the Venetians obey the peace as well and ensure that the Venetian ship approach the Ottomans in peace.
