Order sent to the kadı of Sakız upon the request of Emin Hüseyin who also holds tax rights for the island of Sakız. It has been reported that some non-Muslims in Sakız who have been resident in the region for 40-50 years, are now refusing to pay non-Muslim tax (cizye). They claim that they came from the islands that are under the authority of Venice so they have the rights granted in the ahdname. However, since they have lived in Sakız for such a long time and engage in business they are required to pay. The kadı is ordered to allow the officials to receive taxes from these non-Muslims but in a peaceful way without any oppressesion or harassment.
