The previous dragoman, Loyzo, gave his position with his own will to Piero who is also a resident non-Muslim in Cyprus because Loyzo had been dragoman since the conquest of the island and is now very old. The beylerbeyi is reminded that a dragoman (tercüman) who is close to Cyprus (--- the Ottoman word is "karib" means close****they may mean that he is an Ottoman subject) is good for treasury.
