Order sent to the kadı of Sakız upon the bailo's request regarding appointment of a new consul to the island of Sakız. According he will be given right of a Venetian consul as he takes over the office. Thus, he should not be harmed or oppressed. Any enslaved Venetian, unless they convert to Islam, must be returned to him. If a Venetian ship strikes ground, whatever saved should be returned to the Venetians. Venetians can come and do trade in the Ottoman realm. No haraç should be demanded from them. If a merchant dies, his belongings should be returned to the consul. The consul is the authority regarding disputes between Venetians. Anybody who acts against the ahdname are to be reported to the Porte with their names and descriptions.
