The Venetians are exempt from these taxes as indicated in the ahdname granted to them. However, some Jewish merchants and emins in Egypt acted together and demanded haraj and cizye from the Venetian merchants. The beylerbeyi and kadı are ordered to stop these people and never demand such taxes from the Venetian subjects coming for business.
